    Default WTB 4A x-member for TA22

Any chance that someone has one of these for sale? Prefer Brisbane area but will pay for shipping if need be.

Looking to fit a 20v silvertop into my 1973 TA22 Celica.

Maybe need rack and pinion too to move away from very tired steering box

Was more looking for a pre-fabbed one as I don't have the skills to make one myself.

Sam Qu can make you one, he has a jig I'm fairly certain. Rack and pinion conversion and A series engine mounts.

Last time I talked to Sam Qu, he wasn't doing the conversion anymore.

I'll be doing a R&P swap in my cousin's other TA22 later this year, working from a jig I've made.

Last time I did it, and next time are made as follows...

    1. KE70 crossmember
    2. Engine mounts removed
    3. Custom fabbed ends to bolt up to the narrower chassis of the TA22, retaining factory LCA height and position front to rear.
    4. Engine mounts re-jigged and welded in to factory TA22 position with gussets/extra strength (both his cars run T engines)

For A series in TA22, you might be able to use an AE71 crossmember and not remove engine mounts. Doing point number 3 as listed above, then test fitting in car to see if engine drops in with clearance similar to AE71/AE86.

Can you weld? It is a time consuming job, but if you can DIY I can give pointers on how to go about it.

I've considered doing this swap as well using AE gear for ease and parts. It's probably going to be the best thing moving forward, but at this stage I'm going to fit the custom parts (engine mounts/sump/oil pickup) and just get this thing racing.
I've resolved to get the car up and running by the end of the year so I can have some fun and this will do for now.

Maybe in the next iteration of the car I will be doing a rack and pinion swap along with driveline upgrade after some more practice at fabrication work; I've done some welding but it is far from good (and I don't have welding equipment yet).

Thanks for the information thought, it's very good.

We've set my cousins car up as follows, for cross reference when you come to rack and pinion swap later.

    TA22
Modified KE70 crossmember (needs to be dropped about 20mm from chassis to maintain factory LCA bolt hole height)
    KE70 rack, LCA's & tie rods
AE86 coilovers (one stud of each camber top needs to be moved to bolt in to the TA22 strut tower)
AE86 steering knuckles (non power steer)
    30mm RCA's
    AJPS caliper brackets and discs
FC RX7 calipers with Project MU pads
15mm bolt on spacers (pretty sure, can't remember)
    14X6 +15 offset wheels

It handles and stops well, I think he had it set up to roughly 3 degrees neg camber.
