Anyone got experience doing JDM 4AGE 16v MAP into previously carburetted engine equipped cars who can give some pointers?
Here is what I DO know:
1. Circumvent external voltage regulator
2. Simply connect same things on 16v Coil as they were on the 2T Coil.
3. Black-White starter signal wire going to OEM 2T starter can be spliced and connected to the pin for the 4A-GE Firewall loom Black-White starter signal.
4. Ground Engine block to Chassis
5. Ground Engine head to Chassis.
Here is what I have done:
Circumvented external voltage regulator.
Here is where speculation starts:
The way I am thinking of doing it, if I find the correct pinout for the Body>ECU plug is to simply:
ECU>4-pin Relay>Fuel Pump
IGN>4-pin Relay>ECU Injectors
IGN>4-pin Relay>ECU Ignitor
12v Battery Constant>7,5A Fuse>ECU
IGN>ECU ON-Mode
This I do not know for sure but I am ASSUMING either works best:
Option A: Use old 12v+>Coil on 16v Coil.
Gnd Coil>Chassis
Option B: IGN>Relay>12v+ on 16v Coil
Gnd Coil>Chassis
Or is Coil already Grounded to the Intake along with Injectors, ECU and Fuel pump?
I am questioning the venerable 4age>(x)e70 guide because a lot of the vital links to pinouts etc in it are now giving 404 errors and are no longer up, so it`s not exactly kept up to date.
Does any kind soul out there have solid information?![]()

Bah, it seems my brain has been at high gear for too long this summer.
I chose to do the swap outside, in record hot regional temperatures, no shade, must have ended up frying my own internal COR, lol!
I`ve read the 4AGE>AE71/AE86 thread a few more times, this time putting my brain into low gear and grinding through it, and understand heckuva lot more now than I did earlier today.
Ignore this topic and punish me as you see fit!
