    Default Rear End Camber?

I was at the local diff shop yesterday, getting a diagnosis on a noisy TRD 2 way (needs rebuilding) when I got talking to the owner and he has in the past heated up the axles from a T series diff and bent them. This is very hard on the wheel bearings but creates camber on the rear for track work.
Has anyone heard of this or had it done to their car?

They can also bend the housing rather than the axles for the same effect. Again, brutal on bearings and centers.

I don't see how you could bend the axle to get camber, they spin. I think he meant to say you can bend the housings, pretty common practice for live axle race cars. Depending on how far you go you can still get reasonable life out of bearings. My uncles TA22 Celica GT has 0.8 degrees negative camber on the back and has been like that for over 10 years and he's yet to replace a bearing.

I asked the same question a long time ago on this forum, back then I couldn't get a solid answer either. One person did state something interesting though, they said it helped to have some toe in on the back, can anyone explain to me why this is if it's even true?
