As as to which way to go only you can know the answer to that, if you want power then go turbo, you want something that is still fun but not fast then keep it na.

ask your self what is the purpose of the car?
how fast do u want it?
    is it daily?
    fuel economy etc?
if drift multiply your tyre bill by 5x

it is rare for a na car to be fast, but a na 20v is still fast enough to be fun

I know that only i can answer that, that is why i am asking people how they felt driving both a na and a turbo. ie which they prefered and why

Not quite a direct comparison, but I have a big port mild cammed ae86 with coil overs, and a ae86 small port turbo with bilstein shocks and 20mm lowered tanabe springs.
I love boost. Its great to putt around in and gives fantastic fuel economy on the open road.
But, for a spirited drive, I would still prefer the na trueno.
With the na suspension in the turbo 86, I think it might spoil it.
Thw turbo 86 is amazingly quick out of the hole shot, plenty of traction.
In short, have one of each.

The other thing is what is the motor going in & if you went NA would you keep it standard as far as cams etc go,

Personally if money is not a factor & you don't mind stuffing around getting the Turbo running right i would go that way as there is no way you can beat the rush of a turbo ..

    perfectly said matt

basically do you want to bag the tyres in 3rd or do you want the reward of driving well.....

if youre driving it on the road then leave it NA unless you want to drag people

Depends what you want it for and budget. On a low budget, you can put a stock 4age weld diff falcon cut springs siera shocks front coilovers second hand and really skinny tyres for drift. Or normal tyres for road or track.
The other end of spectrum would be the formula atlantic spec engine (with milder cams if you want to street) quafe 6 speed etc etc.
I might get slammed for saying this on a ae86, but the best budget turbo set up is to get a s chassis nissan. Cheap to buy and cheap parts, reliable and fun.

I just rambled and didn't answer the question. Got a 20v na. 98kw with a haltech. Jdm box and t series. Trd coilovers. And it's heaps of fun. Never driven a 20v turbo, but a mate has a 16v turbo. Due to the power needed a w5x box and a f or g series. The 20v only came high comp so your going to rebuild or atleast large head gasket. Probably better to think 20v na vs 16v turbo. Once again, depends on budget lol

As mentioned, get one of each. I have a 270rwkw bigport turbo trueno and also an NA smallport with 95ish rwkw levin (not dynoed, just by feel).
The trueno has massive work done to it while the levin is basically lightly modified Jdm spec.

While I love the turbo hit, the levin is the daily. Maintaining reliable big power has its sacrifices... Twin plate, e85, no AC or PS, semi slicks etc

4agte finally finished. 252rwkw with more to come
