Measure if the voltage drop is on the earth side or the positive side. Put your black multimeter wire on the battery and the red at the area of concern.
what earths do u have to the engine?
heyy guys i used the info on here to do my wiring and all i connected up my alternator and my voltage drops from 12v at coil at ign to 6v at ign and my dash lights dissappear my fuel pump still works but have no dash lights..?? i have to 2 earths ones for the injectors and the other is for the grounding the starter do i have to ground my alternator >>>???? any detailed descripstion would be awsome thanks

i dont have any earth to the block if thats what you mean
That would be part of your problem if the block isn't earthed..
