Thanks for posting this Max.
If I can get them in the U.K I'm going to give them a try with Bilstein 40mm inserts.
Hello guys,
i came across these internally threaded sleeves that could be welded onto the AE86 strut and used to adapt the the alum uprights of Stance, Buddy Club or similar threaded coilovers with fully adjustable height. They have an inside diameter of 2 inches. (thread pitch/diameter is M55x2.0) , so once you cut the AE86 strut near the bottom, you can slide them over and weld ~
I'm thinking of cutting my AE86 struts for this mod, but i'd like to know what members think about it, especially those who could have this set up. Would you recommend?
Below are internet pics of a similar setup... (just to show you the idea...)
thanks,
Max

You're welcome tottacrolla. these tubes should be available in the UK as well, do a good search online.... let me know how it goes. i think the main benefit with this set up is having a fully adjustable ride height without compromising shock travel or bottoming out or adjusting preload. plus, u get to use a wider variety of coilovers which could be ~ cheaper
good luck.

I build a lot of coilovers for bmw e30's that use the same setup, I have had them on my car for a few years and have done about a dozen for other people.
after having the base adj type i will never go back to the old style, there is never any issues with spring captivity, regardless of height.
just make sure that you pre-heat the stub to around 150deg before welding to ensure there is no cracking.

Thanks Phil, i had no clue about the pre-heating bit of it.![]()
