Default Do I need a sandwich plate?

I've got a 20v ae86 and it doesn't have a sandwich plate. I bought the car this way and was thinking it's for looks as you can see the fly wheel. What's the implications of not using one? Water on clutch & flywheel?

Yes, junk in the bellhousing and on the clutch. Not a recipe for long lasting happiness.

Your car will not explode immediately if you drive it like that, but it is definitely not good. Sort it out.

Yeah as hen said u should run one. If you don't want to pay drug money for one, don't be afraid to buy some 1mm steel and cut to shape to cover the gaps.

Decided to make little covers temporarily to cover up the gaps. Would be nice to take the box out but I need extra hands which I don't have at the moment
