steering rack problem

Can someone come over to my place to fit in the steering rack I don't know wats going on, i was told to unbolt and pull off, so I did and only half of it came out. So I pulled the other half off the other steering rack and when I try to put it in, it won't move.

I have no idea on what you are talking about or why you are changing racks

But you have to pull the whole rack out.


Looks like this

First you have to undo from the steering yoke in the engine bay.



Then im not sure if you have to but undo the rubber boot at the fire wall.

Sounds as if you are trying to remove just the housing..you cant unless you take the indicator stalk and ignition/steering lock component off.

you can but you will have to learn patience and attention to detail. The only thing hard is that the bolt on the uni joint has to be all the way out for the steering to come apart thewre, otherwise its a simple bolt in and bolt out affair. By the way, thats the steering column not the rack.
