    Default 16v bottom end limitations?

im running a 3 rib jdm 4age and wanted to know how much the bottom end can take before they normally call it quits? plans are to shave head a bit trd head gasket cams etc. they dont have oil squirters and that but are they that much worse than the 7 rib blocks?

assuming all cooling and running a quality oil would my motor last a whole track day reving up to and around 8krpms? i did a comp test and everything looks good. numbers all even. number depends on gauge.

what do you guys recommend to improve bottom end?

    thanks all

I've never seen or heard of any 4AGE busting a block. There may be more flex leading to more chance of other problems, however I think you'd have to be getting pretty extreme before that became a problem.

Many years ago I saw a Road and Track (they know about 4As from plenty of hands on experience) display engine at an event. It was a serious build (200+hp??) and used the 3rib block. While I was there someone mentioned the 3 ribs, and Terry replied that it was no issue.

thank you hen. i never heard of 3 rib blocks just breaking either but everytime i did a search for info about them people just say 'get 7 rib its stronger'

i dont plan on touching the bottom end at all. it should be okay with the mods i want.

    thanks

the threads a bit old i know but, i bought 2 4age's at one point one motor had conrods #1 and #3 hanging out on one side and #2 hanging out the other. so yeah a 4age will definitely throw a leg out of bed if you treat it bad enough.
