riojins battle against insomnia
last night i decided since i cant sleep a good nights sleep anymore i thought id make so better use of the time i am awake.
i usually wake up at 2-3am every morning wide awake and then fall asleep at about 5-6am and get up at 7am.
ive tried numerous things to battle this including drinking a shitload to make myself pass out which results in my waking up half-drunk at my usual time.
i have also tried going to bed at or close to where i first wake but this only delayed my final waking up to a later time (eg going to bed at 1am and waking at 3-4am, falling back asleep at 6-7am and waking again at 8am).
at work i decided i was going to try and get up a little earlier but also go for a mornings run everytime i do so.
day 1:
this morning i had the usual crappy nights sleep. i went to bed at about 12 and feel asleep soon after. i woke at 2am wide awake. i feel asleep again at a little past 5am but it wasnt a deep sleep. my alarm went off at 6am (i set it the night before for 6am instead of 7am) which i switched off in an instant.
i got up straight away and chucked a singlet and boardies on. i wasnt having much trouble getting motivated. i did a few stretches for about 2-3mins and walked quietly outside my room. i threw my workboots on (i dont have joggers [because theyre gay]) and opened my front door.
to my suprise it was still pitch black outside and the moon was shining. i saw other crazy people out walking in groups. there wasnt just one or two but about 10.
i started off up towards the local headland near the ocean. i coudlnt even run straight. i must have still been half asleep. my eyes saw nothing but black because i have the worlds most shocking night vision. i couldnt even see where my feet were going; im suprised i didnt trip on anything.
after a few minutes i started weezing. i had bad asthma as a child and threw it when i was a teenager by getting very active in sports etc. the weezing hurt initially but i pushed through and kept going.
i ran the lenght of the headland towards the ocean hoping to see the sun rise over the ocean but instead saw only the darkness being scraped away by the hints of light glistening from the moon and stars. my eyes must have been adjusting because i could see much more infront of me now.
when i got to the end i simply turned around and ran back the way i came. on my way back i passed the walkers i had noticed when i initially walked out the door. i couldnt visualise them very well but i could atleast make out their silhouettes. one looked really fit (if you know what im saying) and i hope to see her properly one day to give her a proper inspection.
i got to the end of the headland, ran down my street and back into my house. the weezing wasnt as bad now but i could feel my legs itching from all the blood pumping through them. i generaly felt quite good, not tired or aching.
the morning air this time of year is delightfully fresh. breathing it in gave me a kind of natural high. i will have no problems convincing myself to go out and do it again tomorrow morning. i will be out rain hail or shine.
hopefully i will get fit from this new part of my routine as well as break this terrible insomnia.

i paid $3150 delievered. pretty expensive but the way i see it is 'this is what i want, this is how much it costs' kinda thing.

look at what sort of things your consuming during the day. what your feeding your mind. what your doing during the day. i remember i had insomnia for about 6 months when i was in year 5 coz i played waaaaaaay too much pokemon gold at school all day, and when i couldnt sleep i played it more.. i know it might sound gay but maybe take a clock out of your room. or make someone change your clock and not tell you. to see if its a pchological thing if that makes sence. like say if you go to bed at 10pm and not look at the clock in your bedroom and someone changes it a few hours back or a few hours forward. see if you wake up as the real same time or wake up the 2am on the clock same time. i hope this makes sence?
just have a 6pack a night, and then a few hours later if u do nothing u get real tired haha.

its not psychological. its physical.
i was over worked for ages and now i have a job that seriously underworks me. i need to do more with my body.
id go to the gym everyday if i had time but i do volunteer work everyday and everynight im at work work.
my body just isnt getting tired enough for me to need sleep. at work last night the other guys were commenting on how hard i was working. i was just trying to make myself tired.
i honestly think the only real solution to my problem is living with a woman
