    food for thought ...

do ride motor bikes? i went for a ride on my mate 250cc on saturday and i gotta say even tho i was going straight at 40km ... i reckon it would be fun AS on the circuit ... high reving.... super responsive and quick as hell.... cheap as well ...

back on topic ... i would go caterham/clubman or something along the line of it. be different.. ive seen some for about 15k... they are rare but they do pop up time to time. with rego + soild rear axle + 4age 20v or something high reving and your laughing+ 500-800kg max .... thats a whole lot of fun..

having owned and driven a jza80 for a while, I probably wouldn't go back unless I had a heap of money and wanted a top speed highway racing monster. they aren't a light car by far, I still cane my friends in their jza80s in the 86 on tighter spirited drives. upsides to this car is the qld supra club is one of the best run clubs in the country and full of champs, plenty of awesome events.

I would love a lightly modified, stockco r32 gtr set up for mountain runs. Possibly either this or a series 8 rx7 will be my next car after I finish uni in a few years.

however your best bet for a light, fun car that would be useful and comfortable as a lightly modified daily would definately be a jdm s15.
there were two with me on a hills run with 10 mates a few weeks ago, they are awesome cars. you can't ignore the fact they are 15 years newer then an 86 and will be much better to drive straight away, plus you don't need much to get them looking awesome.

    cliffs: jdm s15> r32 gtr > jza80

mx5, 15 x 7.5 with GOOD street rubber, lsd, get rid of the athsma and you have yourself basically the most fun car to drive.

im saving for a suzuki cappuccino at the moment. wanted an az1 but they are scarce

Big engine into little car does not always spell handling disaster.

What little trade-off there is in nimbleness and agility, is made up for by the sound and straight line speed of the V8, IMO, anyway.

personally i would go a jzx100 chaser but you'd have to stretch ur coin to 20-25k for a clean manual with coilover, lsd, wheels. if you are going for a newer import (jzx100, s15 etc) would you really need ur daily? these cars are great because u literally can drive to the track give her alot of schtick then drive the girl friend to dinner later that night.

go to motorman toxin. they have a white jzx100 chaser in stock. coilovers, gauges, lsd, and white meisters. they want 25 tho. the bloke said they could specifically source one from uss for cheaper with similar mods, but because that one has sat there for a few months they need to make a bit more money on it
    stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?

Wow very interesting to see how many AE86 pikers there are on an AE86 forum

But yeah, i appreciate the comments guys, its always interesting to see what people really think when given an option. And yeah, Patience, i was going to PM you soon cause i remembered you had a JZA80

Johl: I've already paid an import fee through some other mob (who got robo86's car for him), so i'm set with them .. and they reckon i can still get a stock, manual, turbo one in good condition for 15k delivered... same as an S15.
