Hi everybody.
I flew back into Perth last night after a week in Indonesia. I had a great time...
As it happened, there was an international motor show on, which I had to attend.
Now I must apologize on a couple of things. My camera had some sort of spazz attack and wasn't working properly, so a lot of pics are from my phone. And also, I went out the night before (and woke up late), and was flying home that evening so my time was limited at the show.
Anyway, despite what you might think, there is a shit load of money in Jakarta.
My first night in Jakarta I was amazed to see the streets loaded with BMW's and Mercedes.
Toyota seemed to be a favorite with the locals too. I saw heaps of KE70's, especially in Malang, another city i visited, sporting Watanabe's or Meshies, mirror tint and maybe a wing. No pic's though. They had some sort of Corolla looking car as there main taxi's.
Apparently owning a car in Jakarta is a status thing, which means 90% of the cars you see driving are in near immaculate condition, on the outside at least.
I would describe their tuning seen the same as Australia's 10 or 15 years ago with mods for looks. I'm not sure if they would focus too much on performance as the traffic is pretty bad. At night though the roads would be a drifters paradise with pretty deserted streets, no real enforced road rules, wide roads in really good condition, massive round a bouts and if you get caught you cay buy your way out of anything, literally. Corruption is the main social problem of Indonesia.
So anyway here are the pics I got...
There seemed to be a sub culture of HQ/Z Lovers. This ute seemed to be powered by beats and even had a dance floor on the back
I just thought this looked out as nice as a HQ/Z Holden can get...
The exotics....The purple Lambo was a demo car for Venom car audio and was a main attraction for the show complete with full plastic interior
All the major manufacturers were there, but I missed most
A Proton tarmac rally car.
Mugen Van.
Mitsubishi Concept car.
Pajero Dakar Rally car.
Civic Demo Car.
Needs no intro.
A nice looking GTO.
VW Hotrod. This thing had checker board seats sitting on springs.
This Pajero out lines INdo tuning, Big wheels, tint a little extra chrome and black is the new black
VIP chaser anybody?
A nice little TRD Turbo Yaris.
The show included bikes too, which dominate the roads. I didn't see anything over 250's though, except Harley's.
This was easily the biggest Motor show I've been to, about 6 time bigger then the Perth Motor Show. Some of the events and demos included a Sound Off, BMX Demo no tricks just jumping over a table top with half pipes either end. There was also a test drive area for bikes and cars and huge live band stage. They had a Drift Battle comp over a couple of days but I missed that too. If it was anything like the BMX, I didn't miss muchFunnily enough I only saw one S13. It must have had some decent mods cos it was lowered with with wheels.
All in all i was vary surprised with the scene.
To Finish off, just a couple of pics from the street.
A Yota people mover.
These Toyota vans are pretty hot. Its a shame we get torago's here.
These kids wanted some money, I took a pic of them insteadwith another really clean Holden Premier.
