    Default custom coilovers

Hey guys ive made some coilovers using my xt130 corona struts.. I shortened the strut by 42mm to make the agx mr2 insert fit snug. Now ive put it all together and in my car, but something doesnt look right.. I had to wind the collars all the way up to the top to keep the springs/tophat/collars captive.
Now is this normal ? when i sit weight on the coilovers. Will i be able to wind the collars down with keeping the springs captive. Also i cant fit my rca's in to the mix as the overall strut is to long for some reason with the collars up the top pushing the springs higher

Sorry people first time making them. cheers

    How long are the springs?

With shortened struts and small springs, without helper springs, coilovers are sometimes uncaptive because they arent adjustable at the body beneath the threaded section.

So to get you car lower, you need to lower the spring via the collar and thread which makes it uncaptive.

Yeah, they be uncaptive unless you get taller springs and a helper springs arrangement

If i were to lower the spring perch collars.. My spring obviously becomes uncaptive and so does my tophat to spring. Once theres weight on it, it should be alright i am guessing. Just getting paranoid

get over it or helper springs

uncaptive coil over springs are not so big of an issue as they sit on a fairly big sleeve and the chance of them slipping out of line is basically zero.
