    Default help me with what shocks to use with s13 coilover conversion for 86

    the heading pretty much sums it up. i am doing an s13 fron end conversion to my adm 86 and i have some jic s13 coilovers to go in too. they seem to be leaking so will need a rebuild just wondering also what shocks can be used or are good to use for this conversion. can people give me advice on this please. would prefer like a short stroke type if i could. they are s13 jic coilovers with 8kg apexi springs in them.

    any help would be appreciated

    the coil over type that s13's use does not generally have re placable shocks, infact im 90% sure they cant be. SOME shocks can be rebuilt however, but not all.

    for a s13 front end into a 86 you are looking for anything that is base height adjustable at a minimum, because the car will be VERY low at the front if you do not. other wise dampner adjustable shocks are a plus as well.

    also they do nto bolt in directly, so have you given any though at to what struts tops, LCA, tie rods you will be running?

    if you can get a hold of some proper struts and a wled on kit, ae86 inserts fit fine... so a nice trd insert.. or whichever. i think slydar had some hot sauce insert for cheap

    as for off the shelf coilover stuff, cos yeah oim pretty sure jic are not rebuildable, hsd seem pretty good, though im biased. BC seem to be a decent option etc etc etc

    base adjust is a must as said

    ok ill see what goes and let peoples no.
    i got standard adm86 front struts, i also have standard s13 struts and jic s13 coilovers.

    just jump onto nissansilvia, buy your self some front coilovers. it will be cheaper then TRD inserts, and a better option.

    or just ring up a shockabsorber reco'ing place, they will be able to tell you if they can be rebuilt.

    i had my jic coilovers rebuilt a few years ago, was about 400-500$.

    i got a quote not long ago about getting them revalved (new damping valves and new seals). from what he told me there are 2 distinct types of jic coilovers. and you cant really tell untill you pull them appart. one type was 250$ (for both) for revalving, and the other type was 500$ (for both). i didnt really feel like gambling so havent got anything done yet...
