    Default car won't start!!!

    hooked up the weber today.
went to start it, and it just wouldn't go!
got it started, but it wouldn't rev over 500rpm and wouldn't hold idle.
    then it would die!

also the throttle cable is to long? anyone know where i can get a shorter one,
or use a shorter one off another car?

    any ideas greatful!

what condition is the carb in? is it just a random ebayer? is it reco'd?

could be a shagged carb, could be a simple rejet, could just need a tune. best bet would be to take it somewhere to get rebuilt and rejetted to suit the motor, fit it. drive it straight back to the same carby bloke and get them to tune it

just had the weber reco'd. they test run it and everything. car won't run, can't drive haha

i have the same symptoms as kesev guy in this link.

but i doubt mine is over fueling, as the weber is recon'd.
asked the carby guy, said it might be fuel pump. but i doubt it, because it was replaced last year, and from what i can see my carb is jetting fine

unless you have pulled you carb down to look at the jet size's and know they are correct "what you see" is actually very much like saying "I'm a goose with absolutely no idea"

fuel pumps can die. did you check it to make sure it is still ok or are you just assuming?

haha, yes i am most probably a goose, the weber was test run on a 1.6ltr motor. and when i put it on and tried to start it, was producing a fine mist of fuel in the barrels.
as for the fuel pump, fuel was pouring out of it, when i took the old carb off.
i should pull the line off and turn the motor over and see if its working.

so goose or not, its a brand new mechanical pump which has only traveled 2000km at most, as the car has been on and off the road.

I'm still putting money on jetting being wrong... has anything else been played with? Fuel/air mix could be wayyyyy out. turn the screw out to its limit counting the number of turns, wind it back in to were it was and when the car is running slowly wind it one way or the other, if you get an improvement your on the right track! then drive it to a tuners. If not my next guess would be timing if you know your carby does work... Set your static timing and work backwards, this could also get you in deeper if your unsure of what your doing too.

well i set the static timing...roughly. sparks are a bit fouled up. got a spare set i'll wack in. still won't kick, that was in my lunch break, i'll have a proper look over the weekend, and see what happens. might not be getting enough fuel or spark.
