i resent your comment of skiiers urgh...

    snowboarding is full of

posers, riversports/lo lux crowd who care more about looking cool than actually snow boarding

obviously some people are sweet but you get my idea

Haha, more of a case of some of my friends being high level skiiers and the ongoing war and jesting between us. I don't actually look down on them, sometimes I find the older and arrogant skiiers who think they rule the slopes annoying but I think that stems from the fact alot of them are wealthy. Chinese skiiers I encounter in Japan piss me off the most... rude, no manners, stop in the middle of runs without warning and stay there chatting.

I can understand where you come from with regards to snowboarding though... but I think it's alot like drifting, you have alot of posers and you have alot of decent guys who just enjoy it.

Whilst the Chinese are pretty selfish tourists, the Aussies are easily the most obnoxious travellers in Japan. Loud, crude, many don't respect the local customs (ie. wearing board shorts in the onsen etc) and general fucktardish behaviour. Americans/Brits in Europe are similar.
That silly bitch that was accused of stealing a bar mat in Thailand was a great example.

I've skiied there a bit and try to keep away from Niseko. I don't like to go overseas to eat potato wedges and listen to Australians publically masturbate about how great they are.

There are other resorts that offer fantastic snow and terrain but in a more traditional Japanese setting. But, Niseko is fantastic skiing too and worth a visit.

so stoked my parents moved to switzerland last august and went snowboarding in december and it was fucking awesome! and i went to Thredbo in july which was pretty good but the snow let me down

my gear is K2 illusion board with k2 sonic bindings and Salomon boots (so comfortable and no laces!) wouldn't mind getting some new bindings as my current ones are doing my head in getting loose after jumps

will be going again in switzerland in january cant wait

Get some ride bindings, or union.
both brands are awesome for durability

I agree with you about aussie tourists man, I don't really like Niseko, I just can't stop going back because of the epic snow.
Some are just genuinely nice guys, but most are cashed up bogans that just treat the country like a theme park without inhibitions, and have no respect for the locals.
Nozawa is a tiny little town where the locals all live and know each other, and the aussie that runs the tourist ski scene had to kick 6 bogans out for causing trouble when I was there. He's trying to keep the place low key.

anywho, this was one of the "snowmen" in Nozawa

and powder snow day... sucked to be this guy
spent 20 minutes digging himself and his board out, whilst I just kept laughing

    I've only heard good things
depends what and where you will be riding though, your style and how often you go.
For a good all mountain/freestyle/backcountry do it all board, you can't go past a Burton Custom.
