cant just undo the uni and change the flange
Interesting... I was under the impression that an S series was a tad stronger. Either way, my original diff had 340 000km on it, so I was happy to replace it
I could have, but I only have my KE and an 86 wreck here, so I am working with what I've got Plus, there aren't exactly any wreckers here with AE71's to take tailshafts from, so I figured a new axle would be easier to source/send
Also thanks. I'm itchin' to drive it again!
cant just undo the uni and change the flange
Another day without an axle, another day without it being on the road...
Thinking I should just go a T series as an LSD would be nice. Anybody have one for sale/
Also, got bored a few days ago and decided to paint my rocker covers:
Cool story bro.
I skidded an s series for like 3 years, not one break. mate skidded one for just as long... also never broke any axles.
Anyhoo, This car will be at a whole new level once its all running pretty man
Cheers Blair!
Gave up on tracking down the S series axle (So patient aren't I? )
Had a quick look though the sale section and found a complete T series with LSD and 4.77s...Needless to say I snapped it up as I will get it quicker than waiting to find a spare S series axle
Can't wait to get it in so I can driiiiiive again!
4.77 lsd! fuck yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah hello highway revs!
Highway, schmiway
I will have my 180 for any decent cruises I decide to go on. And I will manage n the KE for the few occasional trips to Winton etc!
Your keeping the 180? ghey ahhaha
And in other news:
THE CAR FINALLY IS MOVING UNDER ITS OWN STEAM!!
Got home today about 5:30 after picking up the T series and tail shaft from the freight depot. Managed to fit the T series in an hour or so by my self (Quite a mission when the car is only on stands ) Then did the hand brake cables and tail shaft. Had a little issue with the tailshaft bearing bracket not lining up with the body (Holes too far apart) but with the help of my old man and his trusty Stick welder, we had that issue rectified pretty easily
Pretty much all I have to do now is fill the diff and gearbox with oil, paint my rear guards, and sort out a little wiring issue...
Seems that my tacho doesn't work, but for some reason my oil warning light seems to act as if it is the tacho lol...When the car build in revs, the warning light lights up progressively as if it builds with the revs. When it is idling, the light is hardly lit up, but if you rev it harder, it lights up more etc...Got me stumped, but it definitely has oil in it, so I can only assume it is wiring related (or a dodgy oil pressure sender?)
Anyway, a couple of obligatory pics. Nothing too special, but some nonetheless
Guards minus paint. Should be aloooooot better once all the same colour.
And I took this pic to capture the awesomeness that is rear discs
