nah, not doing the FSAE stuff. had a look into it, but you really need to get into it in first year. they don't let you do anything til you've been with them for like 3 years. currently doing MECH3300, MECH3250 and STAT2201 (whooo fuck yeah!)
we had richard morgan for MECH3100? (the design one that simmons usually takes) and had to design a fucking NASA rocket...
yeah, the sae team has been maneged really badly past. Its picking up now though, the team structure has been broken down and restructured so its more invitting for people to join and not the shit fight it has been - and yeah, if you need a thesis topic you could always do one on the car. That rocket assignment was a bitch! 3300 isnt too bad, strand can be a bit of pain though, acustics is shite from what i have herd and stat was pretty boring too lol
Might have to hit the red room for a beer at some point.
how crap is mech 3300!!!!!aarrhhh
8% assignemnts that take 4 months to complete.
yer im only doing mech 3410 and math2010.
mech 3250 is pretty fun, did that last year. though the PALS sessions were crap, waste of time those are.
yer i head about that rocket thing in mech3100, we had simmons our year and we designed the offroad buggy.
richard morgan thats his name, such a wierdo! but he is VERY smart..
and nah never got involved with the UQ racing, i checked out the car a few times though, we designed a chassis for it in mech4101/4102 (thesis equivelents) but dunno if it goes used.

I dont think the team even knew about that chassis - was that the same year another group did an engine package for a formula style car?. I have had to mentor a group doing 4101/4102 this yeah and the support they were given was shit, the lecturer had no idea about the car or anything to do with it and give the group a project bassed around it.ob.
Either way, this is a shameless plug, but the team is looking for people in thrid year, a lot of the senior members are graduating and they need people to start getting involved.
yer sorry it wasnt a chassis specifically for formular sae, it was a chassis that was supposed to be for this hyperthetical class between SAE and formular ford.
in reality it would never have worked, was the most useless design, but like you say the lectures in 4101/4102 had no idea so we got good marks. we could have designed anything and as long as we wrote it down in a report nicely we would have done alright.
4101/4102 was more of a project management course anyway, but it got me out of a thesis so thats why i did it
