Probably... I mean they aren't super expensive to begin with.

I dont know the truth of it but I have heard that if the airbags go its almost always going to be written off

Usually, the airbags are expensive. There are allot of these getting around the wrecking yards

There certainly seem to be a lot of them being written off or damaged, as someone said its in the hundreds as to the number of cars damaged each day on our roads & i wonder if the percentage is higher for these cars ??

I think a lot of cars get written off when the air bags get deployed because when the air bags go off they can do structual damage to the car too due to the ineritia /energy as the air bags deploy, i heard if just the steering wheel ones go off you have to change the steering column out too & brackets etc & if the dash ones go off obviously the dash has to be replaced etc ..

Yeah whole column assembly as it has a crumple zone in it and the air bag can affect it's structure, probably highly unlikely but insurance companies and repairers don't like to take risks

Guy spun a bearing and had a dealer ship replace the engine and they didn't tighten the fuel supply line properly and up she went.

its sad to see a new car like this burnt to the ground
