Just wondering how many litres of trans fluid is needed for the gearbox, and how many litres is needed for the diff?
had a couple leaks that have been repaired....can't remember how much came out of each! (only using one oil pan)

cheers

1.7L gearbox and around 1.3L for t series diff. diff will be easy because you just fill it through the back and when it overflows you know you have enough. i'v always filled my gearbox through the shifter and there is no way of knowing if you have enough oil in there so i measure it before i pour. or if you can actually undo the overflow on the side of the gearbox you can just fill it till it overflows from there

I think we should have an article on oil capacity for toyotas
As this is not the first tim it was asked, I remember asking this exact question a while ago

dont only use a certain amount, fill it till its full, for G box, pull out "filler" plug if the cars on the ground, poor oil through shifter hole until it starts to come out of the filler plug

Diff, fill it though the filler plug until oil comes out

i dont see the point of having amount of oil its "meant" to have just fill it till its full

Cheers mate, i assumed that. but i didn't have a big enough socket to undo the fill bolts.

use a shifter just be careful, in that case the speedo is pretty inline with the filler plug from memory pull that out and wait for the oil to come out then jam it back in

I rounded off my level plug with a Mexican socket wrench, that's why I needed the capacitys :)

When I pulled the gear box out I found there is plug the exact same at the top of the gear box. So I swaped em :p

I started a fluids and service thread a week of so ago once there is a bit of info there I'll jam it together and make a service tech article.
