are you sure your car isn't using oil cause i would think that a problem like this could be due to worn valve guides http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

do you have trouble cranking it after a few days. ie takes it's time to fire up?

Its more likely theres condensation in the pipes. Mine did that and i mean ALOT of white smoke spat out of her after sitting on the docks in japan for ~6 months.

Or... you got water in the cylinders somehow

leaking valve stem seals

could be many things, stem seals.. but stem seals would leak as your decelerating down a hill also.. is it steamy, or is it clearly oil smoke? smell it.. you can easily tell the difference... might have a small crack in the head too..or leaking head gasket that breaches a cylinder.. hows your water?? run a compression test, and if you can a leak down test... see any car manual for detailed reference how to do this..

white smoke make me think it's a head gasker, or cracked head.. oil smoke is bluey most of the time..

i know ive gone grave digging
but is driving ur car with worn stem seals very risky?
say for about 10 mins to the local mechanic?

That will be fine.

They tend to only smoke on startup, mebe a little bit on the de-accel like matty said. Plenty of 4a's with leaky valve stems around http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
