Hi all,
Im thinking about converting my 4ac to a 4age soon..
i was just wondering how hard is it to get an engineers certificate and approx how much does it cost?
Not looking at getting a work shop to do it... how strict are the engineers and what are the chances they will fault it for stuff?
Do I also need a blue slip?
Thanks

Ring your state's road authority and/or an engineer and ask all the above questions.

not sure what state your in, but if its QLD...department of transport is pretty much no help at all
best bet is to ask around here (like your doin right now) and see where other people have gotten theirs done

i got an mod plate for my conversion in about 10 minutes from a local engineer, cost 80 dollars, all he did was find out the old and new engine numbers, and ask the specs of the engines,
ie 1.3 pushrod -> 1.6 dohc

If you are in qld, I dont think you need it plated, as there is no capacity increase.

some are easy some arnt so easy, we got my friends pulsar done for a 200kw engine and it passed no worries, the only thing we had to fix was the front bar because it was a lil loose

since your in sydney it depends which 4age your talking about, and also what you want to engineer
if its just a 4age 16valve u dont need a engineers cert, only a blueslip
20valve is a different story
hope that helps

yeah all u need to do is call the rta and change the engine numbers....
i had 16v un engineered and it passed blueslip in nsw after buying unreg from victoria no worries at all.... im now going 20v and ill just do the same as its already regod with 16v i can just change to the engine no. of the 20v as its still a 4ag no engineeres required
gottago

i just went to a 20v. tho i got heaps more stuff engineered on the car other than just the motor conversion.
most are around $550-650 look at the RTA website and search " engineering signatories" and ring one up thats close to you and ask those questions.
i paid $880 for mine tho they overlooked a few things.. the others were $550 and they wouldnt pass it.. so yeh.. sum are strict sum are strict but will slide sum stuff through...
