For best performance, what can you set the ignition timing to on a stock bigport 4age?
pro's and cons?

i don't mind if advancing it makes the motor run hotter. my 4age doesnt budge off C anyway..

any feedback appreciated.

Cheers

its not so much running hotter but it will ping unless tuned to the right fuel and conditions.

indeed

you can advance it all the way off the dizzy with no effects when you run the right fuel. it all depends on how well you understand what the feck your doing

yeah but say if i advanced it 3-5 degrees and ran 95oct would there be noticable power increase?

removed because i can't be 100% in right and don't want to break your engine.

3-5 degrees is jack shit and shoudl run on 95 even on a hot day i'm sure. if it pings then retard it simple as that. the way to induce a ping if its got it, is to go up a hill in a high gear like 4th. detonation is bad. go for a drive and bring a 14mm or 12mm whatever its is socket and ratchet with you.

and if your temp gauge barely lifts from C then you have other problems. liek thermostat or temp sensor.
let us all know how you go

if the thermostat was bad wouldn't it overheat?
and I'm pretty sure my temp sensor isnt hooked up

if the thermostat is stuck open...
