hey guys,

ill be brief and to the point,

-big port 4age
-idles at 1600rpm when hot
-65mm throttle body
-no cold start or idle advance
-0 vacuum hoses connected to the throttle body
-tps set correctly
-idle screw all the way down to lowest point

now ive given the jist of how my engine is set up, i beleive ive done what i can to make it as low as possible but theres one thing id like to know, whats this so called sandwhich plate that can be made up to block of some vacuum holes or somthing? I'm vague on this information if anyone can fill me in id be greatful

yes i have done a search and couldnt find the info i needed

cheers,

stefan

First off, wrong forum :P

Next, by zero vac hoses do you mean that all the fittings have been blocked off where the lines should be?.

The plate people say goes between the base of the throttle body and the cold start valve (which has the water lines that go to it). You can make a metal plate OR get some really thick gasket paper and just block it off with that.

mods move to technical questions please :D

Does it idle alright when its cold? Because thats my problem at the moment. I've got none of the factory cold start stuff and to get an acceptable cold idle I have to have a high warm idle.

I have set up one of the idle up valves to a switch so that I can turn it on for cold start, but now I'm about to put in a bigger valve so I can lower the warm idle some more while still having an okay cold idle

checked ya base timing?

advanced timing will make it idle high

its hunting like a mother fucker now me thinks its time to pull off the intake manifold and have a look see

Before you do, spray some form of carby cleaner or "start ya barstard" around gasket areas while the car is running, and listen for changes in engine note/rpm. If it changes, thats where your leak is ;)

i regasketed the throttle body this arvo, didnt help one bit, it was crusty and fucked and a bitch to scrape off

cheers, mate ill have a look at that

my cars been running like absolute shit since i filled up a dodgy batch of shell, even when i filled up at bp the car was still running like crap. so this weekend its fuel filter changing time and go over the inlet to fix this shitty hunting problem

its either got a vacumn leak, or maybe your cold start injector is leaking???

timing will also cause it to idle high ie to far advanced.

throttle cable adjusted correctly and not holding the throtle open?

If throttle were sticking that far open, tps would usually pick it up and therefore it would not bounce ;)

Bouncing rpm is air leak related/tps :)

all fixed now, turned out to be the throttle cable was too tight and leaving the throttle open a bit so it would hunt that way, then it would hunt again once i advanced the timing to around 10 degrees. so a replacement of fuel filter fixed that and now the car is running like a dream

I AM INVINCIBLE....lol

Also then means tps needs adjusting ;)

Ive had throttle sticking before, no bounce has occured. I mean if the tps was set correctly, as soon as you lifted the throttle off the mark it would take the engine out of idle loop. If the throttle is open and the tps is still saying its closed/in idle mode, the ecu will be thinking WTF!!!!

Would also mean that on partial throttle driving on highway your car would surge lol...

totally agree tho, that TPS will definetly need adjusting now.

shes completely all sweet now, yes it will need some tps fine tuning which is a pain when i don't have a hand brake so i should get that sorted :P
