Any brand, as you can't buy china copy cams!

Yet....

And 256 seams very mild unless its for turbo or stock ECU. Consider something bigger.

I put in 267 duration cams from a local cam place, as long as there new billet items you can't go wrong, you won't be able to have any more lift than about 8mm on standard springs and shim setup.

The biggest cam you can run is a 272 with the standard ecu, you probably wont notice much difference with 256 duration cams, i would go as big as you can, maybe somewhere around a 270 duration if your planning on keeping the standard ecu and not touch the valve srpings.

With my 267 duration cams dialed in I noticed a different power curve, more top end and gained 2-3 rwkw. You should also get some adjustable cam gears so you can get the most out of them.

Definately agree with Jonny, there is no point spending the money unless you get something worthwhile which means large enough to warrant new valve springs and ecu.

Putting in new cams with out cam gears, ecu and tuning to suit or valve springs just seems like a pretty pointless mod to me.

In regards to Kona.Kid and .. well anyone:

I agree with the tuning and ecu

I do not agree with valve springs and cam gears

Unless using nitrous, or turbocharged, i'm yet to see many motors use anything than the stock location on the adjustable bad boys. Waste of money if that's the case.

Valve springs: standard ones are pretty good on the ol' 4A. Unless i was doing significant revs and/or farily wild cams, i think this is poorly spent money

And i believe that a 256/264/272 are perfect for 99% of 4A's .. most simply don't rev high enough to warrant the need for 288's and, god forbid, 304/312's .. how many of you are going the silly side of 10,000RPM?

Oh, and lift is good, try to get between 8-8.5mm, anything less than that is just a bit gay really.

I actually had to get cam gears to dial mine in, they werent timed well in standard position. I had something like 100/100 timing and it would idle like poop and had no real top end. I timed them to something like 112/110 from memory, made a big difference.

maybe because they weren't "brand name" jap cams?

not paying out on the local stuff, i know we can make some great gear, just in this particular instance it's interesting :)

Exactly lol, wasnt going to spend upwards of 1k for such small cams.

Any one used Yaris buckets when they upgraded cams?
