hi, i have a quick question. When doing a 4age conversion in a ae86, would you need to upgrade the fuel lines if you are running a strong intank pump?

yes 8mm lines needed, no matter how strong a pumpis with only 6mm lines you get massive friction loss

^^ No. You can use the stock lines. I ran a 110rwkw 4AGZE for years through the stock lines (with VL pump). So they'll be fine for a 4AGE.

Going to 8mm isn't a bad idea if you have big power plans, or need to replace the fuel lines anywya, but not necessarily required.

thats what i thought, so many people use standard 4ac fuel lines with no dramas...

time to pile the car/s up and burn them all i think...enough headaches for a life time!! xD

i fitted a new 8mm line works great.

anyway, new line fuel forward to engine. original 4AC fuel line was now return, and the original canister line i didnt need to touch.

I'm currently using the standard feed as the feed, standard return as return and I haven't touched the breather line and it's running fine. Just replaced rubber hoses and clamps.

Standard big port with extractors, exhaust and pod.

I have run 160rwkw 4AGTE on standard 4ac line but am going bigger. It did lean out towards the end. Also running original AE86 fuel pump in EFI tank.

At 120rwkw you would want bigger lines be it 5/16 (8mm) or 3/8 to be safe.

Is your motor flooding still whilst on idle ? then hard to crank over due to flooded engine ?

Ever think that it could just be the pump?

I was advised that if I was going to route a new line to go 10mm(3/8) feed for 4AGTE in my race car - plenty of room for bumping up the power later then. There was a calculation somewhere on the net that stated recommended fuel line sizing for a rated power output. I'm sure 5/16 would be fine but if your going tp the trouble of doing it, may as well do it with some head room.

Also after failing with 3/8 bundy tube(prick to work with), I used thick wall alloy tubing from Bunnings which comes in 3m length and was dirt cheap!

Pressure reg on fuel rail stops over-fuelling. As for pump, the reason it was on the dyno was to check A/F ratio's not power output. I was expecting 130-140rwkw. Will be going upgraded fuel lines (5/16 bundy) and maybe GTR pump.

Note that the part number for the AE86 fuel pump is the same as used in AW11 GZE and 7MGTE. I'm more of a try and see then throw money on assumptions.
