Hey guys. Recently blew a turbo and decided to do a port and polish my head and add 264 degree tomei cams. We slapped the car together and now it wont start.

We are getting fuel pressure and spark but when we take the plugs out they dont smell like there is any fuel getting in there. The afr gauge is reading extremely lean when trying to kick it over

Im running a microtech lt10s and x4 system.

Im guessing its something to do with the injector cycle or the timing. The timing is exactly the way it was when we took the head off for work.

Any ideas??

Cams timed correctly?, can you listen or check with a multimeter if the injectors are pulsing?

I presume theyre firing but its very very little fuel. I can smell a bit of fuel out the exhaust. So I think it might be more a timing issue.

Yeah mate chucked a test light on the injector connections and there pulsing, I got fuel pressure, injector pulse and spark when I crank it over compression sounds low so I dont know if the cams are over lapping to much or what the problem is, all I did was cams valve springs and a port and polish I just assumed if everything was set at 0 then it would start?

I would make sure the gears are set correctly for the cams. Check the timing belt is setup correctly.

Check injector pulse.

Hasn't lost a tune?

As has been said double check the cam timing & also Have you checked the valve clearances with the New cams installed as the clearances could be really tight now ??

Most important thing is make sure the cams (not cam gears) are lined up. Locator pin on intake cam should be at 12o'clock, locator pin on exhaust cam should be at 4 o'clock.

If you are using the distributor is that timed right ?
I find the best way to check it is to turn over the engine by hand until it is at compression TDC on No1. cylinder, remove dizzy cap and rotor arm and then look very closely at the rotor with the four teeth, one of the four teeth should be inline with the thin metal bar on the sensor inside the dizzy. If it is not inline just turn the dizzy until it is.
To ensure it is firing on the correct cylinder re-fit the rotor arm and make sure it is pointing to No.1 spark lead on the dizzy cap.
Timing the distributor as above will get it close enough to run.
