RB25 is more expensive than SR
it weighs more - car would handle like poo
its a very long motor- would have to hack away at the firewall, not be able to be registered either

not easy by any means.

SR20's have been proven to make as much or even more power with less money spent on them.. SR all the way!

For the same amount of money it would cost to make it all work, you could buy an r31 and do a 25 conversion to that which might actually still handle and be able to control the power.

AGREED!.. the RB25 although have the extra 500cc over the SR, doesnt give it the extra power, their long, bulky engines mated with a big bulky gearbox.

their nearly half as long again as an SR and your shifter positing would be in the back seat.

if u want something stupidly quick - for street use.. throw a set of pistons and cams in an SR with an ECU and turbo.. 3037 or ring the neck of a 2871R and u will have an easy 250+ KW at the treads... now in a car like a 70 .. i dno about u but get some decent tyre/wheel/suspension/Diff combo up back and it will hammer! go 4.1:1 final drive or 4.3:1 and it will get up and go quick smart..(speaking from own personal experience here BTW)

i dont even get the guys that put RB's in the S13...
to much weight up front.. throws out the balance and handeling..may aswell be a drag car

good luck

so you're gonna go from a 4k to an rb25det with the whole fruit basket???? haha, way overkill on power dude, even a gze will be a crazy power upgrade over a 4k, being in a kesev with 200atw was ridiculous, i can't even see the point in that much power for such a small car

the guy is from the barossa in SA its a mad machine, was out at the last drift practice and training got decent sus setup r31 rear cost hime like 2k to build, he chopped the firewall and moved it back a long way as in where there is the lip below the chassis number ont he fire wall it is moved back about 20cm under that! the extrenal gate sits where ur dash used to be!!!

why rb? 1jz is so much better. there is a guy on toymods with a 1jz in his panel van with the firewall largely untouched. it's basically a street drag car though and runs a 10 :D

So is that thing legally registered? I've never been sure if you could get a rb25/1jz properly mod plated into a ae71?

who knows, under nsw rta guidelines your vehicle weight to engine capacity can only by X 2.5 if turbo/supercharged based on.. '''Original weight’ is the original (unmodified) ‘tare weight’ of the sedan version of the vehicle model fitted with the largest
engine available for the model but without optional accessories such as air conditioning and tow bar.'''

so for ae71 about 950?? 1jz is out of contention, car has to weigh 996.4 kg in the specified form.

havent seen lees in person yet theres just somethin sr's i dont like :S
seems 2 be the sensible thing though

and a 1jz costs like 5k

the car will be a sleeper as well all stock ecept 4 some 15x8 sunrisers or wot ever there called those 4x4 wheels and a respray (same colour)

im not a huge fan of sr20's either.

1jz IMO is a better motor and cheaper then rb25. hell even compared to a rb26 the 1jz is still a winner in every respect.

1jz with the auto, a big stall and line locker would make an awesome drift car. just press both pedals at the same time and no one will see the lack of angle for the smoke.. do it.

rb25 in a corona would be a bit better weight wise and would be a bigger sleeper.

saw a bloke at the drags the other night with a rb20 in a ke70, realy friendly dude, he didnt cut the firewall at all, did it all at home in his garage and it was engineered and registered.

Yeh I'm fairly sure they would mod plate a rb20 just like they will with an sr20? Just the 2.5L is a bit too much I'm thinking..

that 1jz pano is reg'd in act isn't it? you can engineer anything there haha

1jz's are wayy cheaper than rb25's too. my brother paid 700 for his and it was complete with everything needed to run. just needs to buy a front sump and a bellhousing to put it in his corona.

yeah, have you driven any RB silvias dave? once they are set up, you would be hard picked to pick the diff between a RB or SR.

its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
