    Default 20v Waste Spark Ignition?

Hey, just in the process of putting a 20v BT into my 86. Have almost finished plumbing up the water lines and have come to the ignition side of things now. Just wondering if a waste spark system can be used without having to modify the loom and ecu?
Or would I be better off gettng one of the kits that mount the dizzy on the front of the motor?

Any help much appreciated, havnt been able to find any solid answers off internet searches.

    Cheers, Carl

look I know it's not the answer your looking for but the stock ecu is seriously a pile of shit. It's a total waste of a 20v by running it with it.

Sometimes aftermarket ecus with looms come up for sale in the forums for a good price.

So pic of your cooling system install?

Yeah i plan on changing to a aftermarket computer later on, I was just wondering if its possible or not so i could just get it up and running quickly with standard loom and CPU.

Im going to start a new thread in the owners section in a few weeks and will have plenty of pics then. Im just using a RS chita waterline kit, blocking off the outlets i dont need, and using a few different hose bends to make it all work. Bit of a learning experience as ive never done anything like it before. Having fun

no there is no easy way to do it, I have a wacky idea that should work but I don't have time to develop it. It's best you just save up for something proper right away. The RS Chita kit is nice albeit expensive however if you ever want to replace your rear bypass with something slimmer and without anything blocked off then let me know.

I will look at your members ride when it's uploaded

Yeah i actaully bought a backing plate off you a long time ago, its perfect but dosnt have any holes for the sensors, so have gone with the RS Chita backing plate and im going to block off the outlets, as im not running AC/Heater.
The only bit im concerned about is the top (front) water outlet peice that came with the RS chita kit. It has the small hole that heads towards the back of the water pump, from which i can tell i need to get a 4ac peice for it to work. Was thinking i could run a pipe from that small hole down to the backing plate main outlet.

I dont know if that made any sense to you, im just trying to make sure i make a proper route for the water. I was using the link below as a sort of reference.

    Cheers.

PS:I think im going to go with a dizzy relocation kit that mounts it on the front of the engine, i can get it for a decent price, yay or nay in your opinion?

Hey, disregaurd the post of mine that is before or after this one (It said it had to get approval from an admin, b/c it had a link in it me thinks?) , ive just gone through your cooling guide on s-86 . com and everything is alot clearer now. Lol.
Im going to go with an external thermostat from an ae82 4ac (please let me know if you have one for sale sam, cheers).
My only question now is about the "twin stage thermostat" thats mentioned. Is this a readily available "new" item I can pick up from Supercheap/Repco etc?

Thanks heaps, hoping everything makes sense.

seriously, rather than relocating the dizzy...buy an adaptronic ecu and 1zz coilpacks...even if it means waiting an extra few weeks to get it finished...its much much less headache and in all honesty wont cost all that much more...

Alright, got a ae82 ext thermostat on the way, so that takes care of the water setup once and for all.

Delazy, im leaning towards going the aftermarket ecu now, just need someone to point me in the right direction of a known and trusted shop on the Gold Coast as i dont want to have to trailer it far.

Because you were right, they are about the same amount of $$$ to do either option.

    Cheers

I fitted an rs chita water relocation kit, factory ecu and waste spark ignition on my jdm trueno. I use it twice a month on motorkhanas and lapsprints and has never missed a beat, does not even overheat considering the high temperature and humidity we always have here in Darwin....
