if you want something expensive the haltech is a good system all round, so is the LT-10 no need for a hand controller unless you know how do use it and what you are actually doing, i put a Wolf V4X with custom loom in my ae86 with a blacktop 20v and its perfect, v4x cost about 1400 retail and 1250 trade and would cost 400 for a custom loom might be worth looking into if you have the money to spend

im running an ems stinger i picked up for 800 bucks on ebay and it runs a 4agze fine and has all the fruit but the only down side is its not plug and play like an apexi or such but it comes down to who can tune it, ask around and see what different mechanics/ tuners prefer and go from there

Wasn't sure if I should post here or make a new thread, Admin feel free to relocate/delete.

Okay so I'm ditching the old Razorback piggyback ecu and I'm in the market for a standalone ecu to run my N/a 4age 20v BT with mild cams.
The car will be mainly a streeter but will hopefully see many track days.
Basically from what I've been told recently is that an Adaptronic E420d (Just under $1000) is a really good ecu, I've been referred to a tuner in Brisbane (Horsepower Solutions) and after a talk with him he seems to be more then happy with Adaptronic and is happy to install/tune one for me, although his recommendation was a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 (Just under $2000). Now what I'm after is you're opinion's on whether or not the Haltech would be over kill for a basically stock 20v. Am I going to see much if any difference in horsepower considering the tuner knows and uses both units regularly. Im happy to pay the extra if I feel that it's worth it. Thanks

Sprint 500 is adequate for a NA 20v.

The old microtechs, razorback and alike ecus work but mostly lack features of the newer ones and have issues with cold start, returning to idle etc.

I don't think the extra cost for a Haltech will be worth it, the e420d will handle the 20V just fine, a base map is available which has everything such as triggering, idle and vvt setup and can be altered easily, you won't see more power between different ecus providing they're tuned correctly.
