BENT MECHANIX - Garage 20:
Internet rumour, possibly started by me.
I had it all set up with a 16V belt and it did all line up exact,
except the TDC mark where I lined the bottom cam gear up on the oil pump
was not TDC as I had a mis-match of cam drive gear and pump.
Did not find it until I had run the engine for quite some time,
but I still run it like that, Turbo'd though, so for a non-turbo engine you'd
probably need the cam timing set right.
If you use a 20V head and a Blacktop 20V oil pump, a 16V belt fits with no mod's apart from cam timing.
How close was it to correct timing do you think? I really want to retain VVT, there must be some way.
Anyhow, I've replied to another thread in the technical section.
To the OP, very excited to see what kind of number you put out.
I was watching an old ae86 club where someone had built up a 5AG with 82mm pistons to get 1800cc....had something like 210 hp ...Orido was sliding it with ease. The inrease in torque was very noticeable and you could hear the extra torque. Awesome!
fairly sure that ive seen that pass racing do an aftermarket VVT intake pulleynot cheap tho....

Grant Grant, not Grant #2. Can you just turn your engine to top dead centre and show Grant #2 pictures of the crank position and the cam gear positions.
Please!

It was exactly 1/2 a tooth so 5 degree's cam rotation, 10 degree's crank rotation.
It would be possible if you were accurate enough to re-drill the loactor holes in the cam wheels, probably the VVT one too.
