    Default 5 stud front end

Im well into the build of an SR20DE+T and ive got a hilux diff to cope with the punishment i plan.
Now as we know the diff is already 5 stud (ford pattern) and for engineers i'll have to upgrade the front brakes anyway. So im thinking, to save upgrading the front brakes and also converting the rear to 4 stud, just doing the front to 5 stud with bigger brakes in one hit.
Deep dish rims in 5 stud are plentiful, so getting rims will be much easier too.

So my questions is what are my options for this upgrade?

    Thanks for your time people.
    Razz.

will be poo pood by many, but one option is going s14 front end.

would give massive track increase, maybe too much, but 5 stud straight out of the box and also big brake upgrade... 280 x 32 rotors with steel 4 spot calipers. Also no welding of suspension componants so engineering should be a sinch. i believe anyways

medwin has a 5 stud front end, his was a custom ford stub and hub i believe.

not sure on other options mate. Sure there would be a toyota option from some of the larger cars, but might cause problems with stub angle?

you could use s13 lcas with the s14 hubs too, to keep that track increase to something a bit more reasonable. Pretty sure thats how the sil guys do it.

Dont know of any 15" in 5 stud that have the same PCD other than falcon rims. or custom simmons

s13 arms use a different ball joint. also they use the compete s14/15 front end to gain track.... just like we do with rona et all arms

I'm in the same boat (though currently just run 4 stud front and 5 rear). Options I've thought of are:
    - S14 front end. Don't use S13 LCAs and S14 hubs, hte balljoint taper is different. It fits, but loosens off over time. Can fit S14 hubs to S13 struts though (from what I ahve heard)
    - XT130 struts with whichever brakes you like (stock, MX62 or Hilux) plus MS65 hubs. The hubs are rare though, and most upgrades on these struts are to suit 4 stud, so 5 may give some pain.
    - Possibly Cressida or any other suitable 5 stud strut. Not sure what if any fits and works easily.

Take a look into what the MA61 boys do when going 5 stud. It'll give you an idea, though geometry is different MA61 to AE86.

I've already got AE86 AJPS coilovers, so im not to keen to change the front struts again, plus im running sigma LCA's so more track isnt what im after.
Cressida brakes sound good if im about to retain my 86 struts. Anyone know?
I can make adapter plates as im a CNC machinest, but id rather get them in some kind of kit if i can.
I dont really care if i use brakes from a non toyota either as its only a AE71 and she's alreay got every other make of car in it anyway.

    Thanks,
    Razz

im probably wrong, but it sounds like you are going to be modifying hubs or making custom hubs if you want to keep your 86 struts. This may or maynot create moe problems as the strength of the stub comes into play with a larger/different hub assembly.

There's nothing I know of that gets 5 stud onto AE86 struts. I think you'll be looking at full custom, or maybe some playing with different bearings or spacer rings to graft a 5 stud hub onto the AE86 stub axle.

The issue is that the 86 stub axle is relatively small, giving two problems. Firstly it's not the strongest in the world, but I've yet to see that cause any major problems, but secondly it means that it probably isn't even a close fit for most of the 5 stud hubs you'd consider using.

A bit of searching around pick-a-part with a set of verniers may turn something up though.
