Find one from someone who has spares! I think the factory torque spec is around 13Nm. What about Coventry or something along those lines?
Hi there peeps,
I may have a really stupid question, or it may be not so stupid.
Now one of my camshaft bearing cap bolts have snapped off!! Now I can hopefully get it out usuing a ezy out that's not a problem, question is what bolt to I replace it with..?
can I just use a grade 8.8 high tensile bolt the same size or do the have to be a special type?
i know it may sound silly but my brain is farting ATM.
Thoughts ? :/

I'm sure you could get away with a different high tensile bolt, but I think the best option would be to get a new genuine replacement from Toyota. It is going to be only a tiny cost of what may be a much larger cost in the long run if something did go wrong. Peace of mind
i has lots of them, if you really get stuck
It should come out easily....

Be prepared if it's the bolt that I am thinking it is then their an M7, your not likely to get too far trying to source one of these from a conventional bolt store.

Sam I'm 80% that 16Vs are M6 and only 20Vs are M7.
Those bolts also have a tendency to break before their rated torque. And while the right bolt is always nice, it's not highly stressed, so anything that fits will do.
I can confirm my 16v head uses m6x1
