Red face 7AGE Is It Worth It?

Hey guy so, I was planing on building a 7AGE for my AE71 But some people have put bad images in my head about them today... so I want to ask the people who have a 7AGE or have driven one to tell me what you think of them and if you think there worth it..
Now the 7AGE build I was planing was:
Reco 7afe block w/ balanced crank forged conrods
and just 4age head ported with 2 1/2 inch extractors and full exhaust, 4age pistons, try some type of 16v individual throttle bodies, standard age injectors/fuel rail and so on...

    cheers for the help
    Dylan.

It is a cool build like any hybrid but it's only another 200cc more or less. When you think of it like that it doesn't sound worth it IMO but there is nothing wrong with them. 3sge would be better if ya want more power easily, plus a truck load of aftermarket stuff available for them, only balls up is its not a drop in and a bit of work needs to be done.

what do you want to do with the car....if you are driving to the shops keep the 4ac,

do you want to win drag races street or strip?

    do you want to drift?

do you want to fit into a specific racing catergory?

do you want something period correct/cool/easy to work on/convert?

Yeah it can be... Its like any 4a build, if you do it right it will be loads of fun, if you do it on the cheap and cut corners it won't be.

I have a 20v silvertop 7a which isn't too bad, power delivery doesn't feel like it comes on as hard as the 4a.

buy an engine package out of a car that is pretty complete or has been running 4age smallport can go under the radar from cops

saves you time and money even tho it will seem like a lot of money at the start

well my plan was to spend a month or two gathering parts then build it on my engine stand get everything ready for the swap with out de-mobilizing my car and only have the car off the road for up to a week for the hart transplant... just the wiring is the hard part that's what I am going to spend most of my time F*ckin around with & whats the go with rego and that how would that work? Don't you have to tell them what engine is in the car, because i cant exactly go oh its a 7age when the motor was never really made... I am not sure how any of that would work.

if it is your first engine conversion then allow a month or two, not a week

as for engines and legalities i cant comment on victoria but most people in sa just install the engine and wait for the reaming

the traffic police here are despicable and controlled almost solely by money as thus even one who has paid big money for engineers reports can still get reamed.

are you on your p plates

Yeah I am on my p-plates I know if I was to do this conversion I would get reamed & its not my 1st engine conversion, but it is my first time working on a ecu so I guess I am in-experienced.

All the bad feedback about 7a motors is more than likely due to half arsed builds and incorrect tuning...the motor itself is a solid one and definitely fun to drive...I wouldn't however recommend it as a "first" anything of such...Costs will blow out big time when/if you build one...my 20v 7AGE is approaching 10k or there abouts
