Default Building my own dash cluster and looking for advice and tips from ppl who have done it

Looking to build my own cluster. Car will have rego so needs all the usual lights for warning etc and blinkers. Have a aftermarket harness and will be putting in aftermarket ECU and well thought what the hell and want to make my own cluster even though l have 2 good dashes.

Just looking for advice and tips on setting it all up etc

    Thanks in advance

Get a racepack haltech dash , they look sick... Easy to mount flush and make look like it belongs in there... By the time u add up all the gauges u need, muck around trying to make it fit u might as well have just gone for the racepack.

    Hi Matt,

But does that meet requirements for registration for street? As it doesnt have turn signals and other warning lights?

I have gone through this process before. I had 5 gauges I wanted to setup in the cluster and a separate digi odometer. I still have most of them. I binned this idea after deciding they looked shit.

I eventually went with a stack dash as I prefer the analog tacho to a digital one. To be road legal, technically you only need a non-resettable odometer. I think blinker flashers and a hbrake light may also be needed. That said, I don't have the hbrake light and my car is engineered.

My suggestion is to get an all in one unit as matt suggested. Defi also make a very nice one but is around 2.3k and it's hella hard to find someone that can get it for you. They are meant to be sold only in Japan. Instructions are all in jap as well. They also do not fit into the stock dash space as it is too tall so a custom housing will need to be made. The stack will fit in the stock dash housing after being gutted.

it's a modded stock one by the looks. its from a initial D replica carland has forsale. looks like just a piece of carbonfibre placed of the original dash with holes cut out to see the km and fuel. with added guages, indicators, and warning lights. could do the same with a race pack, would look heaps neater.

Hmmm. So many choices. 100% dont want stock dash and think one of the guys on the forums has made one just need to find them. Maybe stacker dash or racepack with extra lights for all the other stuff

Another option... retrofit new gauges to the existing housing....

The images above are from an ae82, but they aren't too different the dashes.
