    Default AE86 Drum T-series vs. T18 T-series

I've got a T series drum brake diff which is meant to be from a JDM AE86. Is there any difference between this and a T18 diff or are they exactly the same?

Apart from the whole zenki + kouki axle size and bearings thing they would be the same.
May or may not have a lsd.
Does it have sway bar mounts?

Yeah, sway bar mounts will be the obvious tell tale here.

Have a read through this, it helped me make sure I was getting what I paid for.

Some TE72 have swaybar mounts, some do not.

In my experience it was an option for TE72 series 1, standard for Series 2. That said, series 2 are really, really rare, as is actually finding a series 1 diff that was option with a swaybar.

Yeah it does have sway bar mounts. I'm not really worried what it's from, my main concern was whether axles etc will be interchangeable between AE86 and T18 if I break them.

I believe the axles are not interchangeable due to the length

Wouldn't be a length difference, same width. Ra60 are different but you cut down to suit

Only different would be bearings and zenki vs kouki axle diam. size.

Just to be clear, there are differences

Zenki vs Kouki with the axle thicknesses and bearings. These will never be interchangeable

LSD vs Open diff axles - these are different lengths, IIRC, LSD axles are ~5mm shorter than non LSD axles. Non LSD axles can be shortened to suit LSD applications.

TE72 axles are all zenki open types (unless modified obviously).

So you've got zenki open and LSD as well as Kouki open and LSD, although i'm yet to see an open kouki diff myself I have no doubts they are not a figment of my imagination.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe this is only for Toyota (TRD) LSD application.
Aftermarket LSD can take both non LSD and LSD axel types.
