    Default 20V 4AGE + A/C

Gday, starting a 20V BT conversion into my AE86 soon, one thing i cant find much information on is A/C...

Has anyone on here done a conversion with A/C?

Ive read a few minor things suggesting using the 20V compressor? But need to change certain components due to the R134A refrigerant?

Ive also read about using your standard 4AC compressor with a Zenki 4age non P/Steer A/C Bracket and just swapping over pulleys?

    Anyone got any pics?

A pic with A/C bulkhead near extractors would be nice, heard some people not being able to run certain extractors with A/C?

Any info would be great, Corey

    What Matt says is correct.

On my setup I'm running a standard AE86 compressor & bracket (from a 16v) on my 20v. I'm also using the 16v crank pulley, which I believe was modified by trimming 1 or 2mm from the base to make it line up right with the compressor pulley. I'm not sure if the 20v pulley has this issue, or if you can even use a 20v pulley at all with this setup.

The extractors won't hit the compressor, what they can hit is the solid AC line coming out from the firewall. Only high rise extractors will do this, most other extractors will fit just fine. I can confirm that powecraft extractors DO NOT fit if you run a stock ac setup

When I did my 20v conversion back in the 90's, I used the standard compressor and installed the original pulleys onto the 20v, I had to machine the belt adj slightly to get it to fit but overall it was no problem. I am using an aftermarket ecu, so put an idle up solenoid in which turned on when the a/c turned on. Overall it was quite easy

As above, measure the difference in offset between pulleys and then put your 16V pulley on the lathe and take the difference off the back. You can't use the blacktop crank pulley, spacing is wrong

Thanks for the info guys... Hayashi did everything else line up with the modified crank pulley? Water pump exc? Im considering making custom AC lines from Aeroflow 800 series which suits R-134A refridgerant. Did you get your system regassed with R-134A?

I did his conversion, everything lined up as per factory, I can go into detail on why the pulley has a different offset

I did get it re-gassed with R134A. No lines were modified. Some rings had to be changed and the receiver & drier was swapped for a new unit.

    I am looking at changing out a KE70 r12 system to ST 20V r134a.
From what I can gather, R12 work at lower pressure.
You can try re-gas, but it will work hard for little effort, kinda like the chief on two broke girls blowing air in your face!
If you are re-using r12 system parts, you have to dispel all the r12 gasses, or it will FOK your compressor.
There is a pressure switch on the receiver dryer, at minimum that would need to be changed, can't miss it, 2 wires go directly to it.
Completely new receiver dryer would be the way to go.
The only other part is the orifice hole in the dash unit, this also may have to be swapped out for something that flows better.
Cheapest parts are AE82-92, AE86 wears significant price tag, as per anything that has AE86 in the title.
    Maybe xA-FE gear?
The only thing I'm not too sure about is the condenser itself.
an r134a condenser should flow more, so r12 may restrict flow.
