Jacob,
It's just hard not to be jaded after seeing this 100 times before:
- Guy posts up a very general "question" about a major, tricky project.
- People give advice/comment as best they can.
- OP ignores all posts and says he'll do it anyway and it'll be sick. If this is the case why post a question in the first place?
- Project never happens or dies in infancy.
I look forward to being proved wrong one day and see someone transplant a RB26 with 4WD into their TA22. I'll be the first to congratulate them for a job (hopefully) well done, but until then it's all talk.
If you have to ask on an internet forum about a conversion question, you most likely wont do it. There is a reason no one has really done it before
RT142 Estate.
AJPS.
It is very hard to take this seriously, considering he changed his mind every second, and then when he came to his completly differant decision, he said he had done the research (posted less than 24 hrs later). That is NOT research on such a major conversion...

Come on hen, I think that's asking for a little too much. Surely the awd ta22 with a 1uz mated to an rb26 trans is enough? Or maybe it was tt too? :p
Also, why does everything have to be v8 these days? A turbo v6 would be more than capable in a corolla chassis and could put down 600hp without stressing the motor too much and cheaply enough. and (turbo) packaging will be far better and easier and nicer to work on. You've got yourself a 9 second street car there and it'll go 8's as a drag car.
Last I heard that TA22 was single turbo, but anything could be the case now. And yeah, the main difference there is that he went and did it rather than getting on here and asking "so what about a turbo 1UZ and GTR driveline in my TA22? It'd cut hektik skids at Maccas."
A turbo V6 might just be harder to fit than a V8 though, single turbo V6 piping is annoying enough let alone in a KE70, twin turbo would also be a lot of mass again to contend with fitting under a KE bonnet.
Just put in a built SR, run semi's all around and decimate all.
This dude's doing turbo ls1, which is why I suggested turbo v6. Front mount turbo on a v6 vs low mount twins on v8 or high mont twins. Drives up cost too having to buy and plumb up two turbos.
Would be interesting to see a vq30det fits in a corolla engine bay. It'd need a huge power bulge like the one to suit the barra though.
But yeah, SR or 4G and some overnight parts from Japan
