As said, a late smallport gze has a compression ratio of 8.9:1 which puts it close to a bigport 4age. They aren't that bad really, even my 8.0:1 early gze in NA was still much better than a 4ac.

Just leave all the gear attached, can just unplug the supercharger or remove the charger relay (and remove the drive belt if wanted). Run a J pipe from the charger outlet to the inlet manifold on the head since its opperating as NA. Most of the usual 4agze to rwd conversion stuff will still apply (like cooling system, clutch/flywheel, etc).

    Good luck

As everyone says, yes it'll work, but wont be exciting.

To do it you really need a full 4AGZE and then drop the SC bits. I think 4AGE gear is just different enough to make it too much hassle to try and run a ZE with it. Coils, dizzy etc.

Another option is to fit a 4AGE now and just crack it open and drop ZE pistons in if you go to turbo/SC later.

interesting ... ive got a 4agze now with a turbo. its been tuned for 150rwkw on a mircotech ...

will i have to get it re-tuned so it can run properly if i was going down the same path as the topic starter ?

i also have access to a jdm loom and comp .. if i bolt that striaght up will it run ? and more importantly damge any components in the process ? ( recently been re-built for a turbo application ... soon to get my licence back so i wont be able to drive a turbo vechile)

If your computer has been tuned to run boost and then you take it away, it will be confused, kind of the same as running boost on an NA computer..can be done but not very well at all...
rather than getting microtech retuned for NA, i would just put the JDM loom and computer in and disable the supercharger as Nikkojoe said earlier...

Buy a bigport now, when you get off your P's, turbo it.

a bigport 4agze in NA is a good platform to work from phouc and there is little left to do when turboing it .. Get your parts whilst yo can still drive it, is the smartest option. Once you get all the parts its a days job to turbo the bludger.. Run Max 10 psi on the motor and it will push 140kw on 10psi pretty easy and would be good for a mid 13sec pass

No. A well tuned turbo car should also run well with the turbo removed. The "tune" for the car will cover both manifold vacuum and boost. Remove the boost and it still is mapped for manifold vacuum. The reverse is not true of NA cars.

Having said that, there are other disadvantages of a de-turboed motor, like low CR and so on, but the tune isn't necessarily one of them.
