Default Oil change -> Oil leak problem

Changed the oil today. All was fine.

Changed the washer on the inside of the sump plug bolt as well. Tightened it up good and proper, but now it leaks. Small drops at a time, but it leaves a decent few drops on the ground after a while. The bolt is not stripped and wasn't/isn't over-tightened.

When it happened on my old motor, I eventually took it to a mechanic, who said it wasn't tight enough. I know thats not true. Surely there's a reason why it's now leaking? It wasn't before. And I really don't want to drain the fresh oil out to fix it. Especially as I'm out all tomorrow and driving 2 hours to go away next week

The washer has to be made of something soft. Like:
    plastic
    copper
    aluminium
    felt/ aluminium

If either of the surfaces are not flat, you may still need some silicon.

Didn't have it before and it was happy, so I didn't think to put some on.

There was a black plastic one when I took it off, and where I did the change we found a pack of the same ones. I put one on there. Maybe putting 2 on there might sort it? Or just some silicon around the outside would work?

Thanks for the replies, no searching gave me answers

You never put 2 washers on.

    I dislike thread tape.

1 new washer, and some silicon on the thread only if you are unsure.

Thats going to involve pulling the oil out of the car isn't it? Silicone on the thread only, or can I be cheap, and cheat by putting it on the part its leaking from? Probably a silly question, but it would be a temp fix.

if you don't wanna drain the oil park on a really steep hill and jack up the car almost vertical you shouldn't lose any oil but if any maby a little don't flame me its just a thought i had lol
    the dyno pull to 300rwkw

BT20v is making 300rwkw like i said i would without nitrous so now its time for some spray and see if she will run a 10s or less

I had this problem, it was caused by the washer not being thick enough. Make sure the bolt thread does not stop before the washer starts...

wrong washer perhaps? there are like spark plugs (the washers i mean), so you do them tight then and extra 3/4 turn? for the first time and that should do it. doesnt matter about the threads, as the washer does most of the sealing.
