    Default '84 SR5 Carb Rebuild

    Car - 1984 SR5

    motor - 4A

    use - Daily

    problem - Carb rebuild help

occurs/started when - Just bought it with a bad carb

personal situation - Picked up a nice '84 SR5 "everything stock except the radio". Carburetor issue sounds like a stuck float, but I'm running to pick the car up in 10 days. So I got this junkyard carb that should be good and am going to give it the once over so I can swap it out and go - hopefully. Has anyone got a step by step for a first timer on the rebuild and swap? The swap looks straightforward except for the wires hardwired into the solenoid etc. It would help to get the assembly order from someone that knows it. I've got new gaskets, nozzles, and such. Hopefully,

The Toyota repair manual has an incredibly detailed description of the rebuild. If you want, I'll scan it and send you the pictures, around 20 pages. You really should consider getting your own copy. It's an indispensable tool, amazingly well illustrated, covers almost everything you will ever need. They are 40 or 50 bucks used on ebay. You'll never regret that money spent.

Hey, thanks! That would be great.
What a helpful group. Some places just ignore or deride new members, especially if they are not building a racecar or a monster truck.
It's comforting to know the people who just want to keep their old machines running great can find such a resource.
