Default How easy/hard is it to install the JDM digital dash?

    Hey All,

Looking at buying a digital dash for the trueno but have seen that a lot of them are sold with fuel senders, this got me thinking is there more than just changing the loom round a bit?

If any one has found instructions on how to do this please post a link, i found one pic on what wires plug where but not sure if its easy as that.

    Cheers
    Cam

Yes it requires a digital fuel sender, and you'll need to change to an oil pressure switch (not sender) as it only does a low oil pressure light.

I did this conversion about 14 years ago, I used an MA61 fuel sender(out of an Aus MA61 that had digital dash) the fuel sender is PHYSICALLY the same as ae86 regarding height of float etc etc, it works on a 0-5.0v, I just had to run an extra wire(used existing two already to origian fuel sender) and connected up, was very easy. The rest such as water temp etc was very easy also.

seriously i always wanted a digi dash and yes they're funky, but now having one in the ma61 i'd much prefer an analogue dash, so much less distracting, it is a conversation starter though

SW20 low oil pressure switch works. Make sure it's the one for 'with light'.

Did this a month ago for a friend.

Im an 80's kid, and I have a digital dash.
AE90 corolla also have an oil pressure light, so I assume you could use that sensor.
AE92sx 4ag's have a variable gauge, so you won't be able to utilise that sensor.

Installed mine with the proper loom from a zenki gt-apex (trueno, but still mostly same for levin). All you need is the oil light switch froma ke70/ae71 or from any ae82/92/93 that ran an oil light (and probably any toyota that ran an oil light for that matter).

As long as you got the plugs for it, follow the diagram above and it will work.
