AKA steelcase Celica box. They have a different design and are not interchangable with the W55 to 59s. So Not really relevant for any of us I think.

They suit a lot of older gen motors. k,r, and diesels mostly. Most famous for coming behind an 18r in a celica RA40 and mostly used for conversions to Holden.

The older generation Toyota boxes were the W40 and W50 (four and five-speed respectively). You will mostly find them being from Crowns (M engines), Celicas (R engines) but were used in a variety of vehicles. Referred to sometimes as the "steelcase" or "celica five speed" and look roughly like this.

The "alloy case celica" or "supra 5 speed" boxes are labelled W55-59 are much the same (main difference is ratios). They are all 5 speed. The W58 is the only one that is ACTUALLY a Supra box but they're very similar for all intents and purposes.

I got one for sale, W5x bellhousing still bolts up to it.

Apparently they have a weak 5th gear, but i don't plan on droppin' 5th.

    I agree they have a weak 5th.. but I'm 99.99999999% sure they don't bolt up to a W55-W58 bell.
