smallport ae92 4age remote thermostat conversion

problem - radiator/thermostat

occurs/started when - doing a 4ac - 4age conversion

personal situation (if applicable)-

So I am just getting ready to change this engine over and was wondering if someone could tell me what is the best way of moving this external thermostat closer to the radiator? I'm thinking just get longer radiator pipes. Is it that simple? Or would i need to mod or fab something up to make it suit my 86?

I'll have to run it through the heater core too so it passes rego. I've tried searching the forums but couldnt find any helpful info so if someone could please point me to a thread they know of or give me some advice here it would be much appreciated. I just used up most of the hoses that i gathered up between the 2 engines. Just cut em to whatever length you need

also why the fuck do you need heater core to pass rego???, LOL checking if your heater works isnt needed for rego


also HAHAHHAHA looks like im not running a thermastat XD, my system is FWD and i dont have that remote one and looking at it, instead of running into the thermastat mine jsut goes straight to the rad from the pump

Heater core is REQUIRED to pass rego for your demister. Whether all mechanics check it / care is a different thing.

Yeah thats cause i got the 100kW smallport FWD. AE92 smallports come with remote thermos buddy

Sorry but you do need a heater for rego & it is checked, its to do with the front windscreen demister

All fwd 4a's have a remote thermostat (all mounted on the top of the gearbox).

Just note that if you chop out the water pipes which go to the throttle body when shortening them, you will need to plate off your cold start valve otherwise you will have a hunting 2k idle.
