All you need to do is look the tyre man straight in the eye and without flinching call him a pussy!! it can be done, it just cant be done when you are thinking about commodores and men!

hey guys,
I have a set of deep dish 14x7 rims. I picked up 4 new (second hand but only driven 10km on em) Dunlop SP Sport 175/60/R14's.
I tried 4 differant shops and they all said they wouldn't do it, as it's dangerous and the tyre would roll off the rim when conering, especially if going sideways...
I told them that it's common in japan, so how do they do it there? They said they dont know.. And i dont know either...
Are they right? Do i have to get a certain type of tyres?
I was trying just to get them put on the rims and not actually fitting them to my car.
I pleaded, and one shop fitted one tyre on one rim for me. It looked Awsome! Because i only had one fitted, it sat in my shed, not on a car. After 1 month, the tyre was totally de-flated......
Any advice? I really want stretched tyres, but dont want to die...

find 165/65/14s (y)
tis what i run on 14x7's
NOT ON THE FRONT.
Did you try tuggeranong tyres?
Also jax in quickfit mentioned that the tyres they sold me for my 15x8s were illegally narrow, but they said "its not like they're going on a legal car anyway"![]()
id sell them tyres and put 185's on
wether they will fit em or not, legal or illegal, isn't really my main concern.
My concern is :
Is it dangerous? can they roll off the rim?

With max stretch they can, heard quit a few hairy stories of tyres coming off. If it's only a minimal stretch then there's not much to worry about.
175/60/R14
Is that minimal or max?
Should i go with them or get 185's?

with the one i got fitted, the guy said it would be ok for driving around a carpark, but wouldn't use em to drive with.
He also fitted it for free so he has no liability for it...

I'd go 185's simply cause it will be be better for grip, I've heard of more stretch than 175's on 7's, up to you. Pretty sure breno with the ke had 165's on his 13x7 -34 centrelines and that was fine.
