Thread: turbo water and oil plumbing

so the story goes, took the car down to magic performance (a workshop in brookvale, sydney) to have my turbo and manifold fitted and plumbed.
after a complete fuck around with this monkey and the money he tried to extort from me, i got the car home and after a year of gathering parts and putting the rest together i got the car started. a bit ruff but it started. woo.

THEN i checked my engine oil. caramel milkshake anyone?

after contemplating a few of the problems it could be i.e. cracked block/ turbo..... i thought is it possible my water and oil feed/returns are mixed up???
    hhmmm
so the oil feed comes from a new brass fitting with oil pressure sender ontop of it, oil return goes back just above sump
water feed SEEMS to come of the back off the block, and what SEEMS to be the return goes to what SEEMS to be a new fitting, that is located between the oil feed/ pressure sender and oil filter.
the block is a late gze (ae101)
can anyone confirm if the turbo is dumping the water return straight back into my block?
note oil has been changed twice and the same contaminated results occurs.
i have not checked the radiator because of the mess it will make, but if it will help in the diagnosis it can be done.

not an expert. but from the info you gave, your water return is goin into the hole that you should be getting an oil feed from (can get fed from oil pressure sensor hole or bolt next to it {the one between oil pressure sender and oil filter}.) all your water feed/return should be coming from the back area of the engine. where the water hoses are.

so yea waters dumping into your oil. easy fix though.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (biggo @ May 16 2008, 10:37 PM) </div>so just to confirm, again... the hole that has been taped into between the oil pres sender is still an oil port, meaning in theory my turbo is putting both the oil and water back into the block?

That little connect between your oil sendor and oil filter is a water port. Hot turbo water should be returning to there. From what i can read/understand your setup water wise is correct.

Pics tell a thousand words thou.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (slidn_ways @ May 16 2008, 05:24 PM) </div>Where just above the sump.

the only connection on that side of engine is a water port which your already using and a oil pressure port, which your already using. Unless you have a sump with oil cooler return.

Oh and fwiw don't use that oil pressure port for anything other then oil pressure. Once you start adding weight and soft brass adaptor it all goes horribly wrong especially on the block, get yourself some oil cooler adaptor with gauge ports in them and use those for oil.

And water, well i would use the back of head for source and return it too the radiator directly to the top tank.

you need a nipple braised onto the sump. so the hose can be connected.

and how positive are you of that bieng a water port. cause I'm pretty sure its not

The water port FKN16v speaks of is the water drain valve, also can be semi used to bleed the coolant too but i wouldn't.
