is the oil cooler line connected back to the engine or is it plugged up?
If you can, connect the cooler back up and see if it goes back to normal.
Hey guys just got my 4age going in my Sprinter and the oil pressure is way too high (sits on the high mark on the factory gauge while driving)
Doesn't seem to leak oil anywhere but does smoke a bit probably due to high pressure
The engine is a ae82 4age whith the oil cooler blocked off for now, will that cause the high pressure? Should I connect it back up and see?
Only reason I didn't was I didn't have any hose or money to get any at the time
Thanks for your help

bypassing the cooler won't make any difference,it's a low pressure bleed off system anyway, all it'll do is just return to the sump faster.
measure what the oil pump is actually putting out with an accurate gauge. the std dash gauge is a guide more than a measuring instrument.
around 30psi at idle and 80 or so at higher rpm is a normal range. if it goes above 100psi,you have a siezed pressure relief valve in the pump that you'll want to free up before you pop seals or damage bearings..
Justin...
change your oil/filter
Hey stop! don't run it anymore as the blocking of the hoses is the oil relief as well as oil being cooled on the return to the sump. You can connect the pipes with a short piece of hose to u it back in.
If not running a cooler for now, remove the sandwich plate and put the 4ac oil filter stud/screw in its place.
Block the sump return....

fitted the factory oil cooler today but it didn't make one scrap of difference
guess I have to pull the sump off and have a look at the release valve
cheers for the replys people
i have noticed this same thing in my 4age but assumed the gauge was out.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>however i do have a dented sump.
would this dent foul anything, such as this pressure relief or is that part of the pump ??
cheers
the gauge is calibrated for a 4ac, so it will read high. also, do you have the 4ac sender in there, or the ae82 4age one? should have the 4ac one in there.
78's
4ac sender in the block so if i fit a jdm cluster it should read normal range then?
