Default TVIS question.... Do I need it? 4age with Microtech

Just after a bit of help fellas regarding the TVIS.

Basically, I have only ever really had/fitted smallport 4age's, so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to the bigports TVIS system.

The story is, While I am building my N/A hi-comp forged motor, I want to put a standard 4age in my new KE70 in the meantime. As I have a shed full of 4age parts and a few 4AGE motors etc, I should have everything there to make it happen. Except for a TVIS system. I do have a TVIS manifold, but it is non-functional as it has had the guts ripped out.

The parts I will be using are:

    Standard JDM Bigport
    JDM RWD manifold and TB
Microtech LT10s with custom loom (came out of a 4AGE AE71)

Reading on the Billzilla (Bill Sherwood) website, it says the Tvis is ECU controlled.
Since I am running a aftermarket ECU, does this mean that I dont need the TVIS system at all? Will the tuned aftermarket ECU make up for what the TVIS does on a standard setup?

As I said, I have never had a bigport (TVIS) motor before, so it's all new to me.

Also while I am here, What do people usually do with the throttle bodys? I am thinking of just making up a plate and gasket and blanking off the bottom of the throttle body. Yes? No?

    Cheers

To my knowledge yes you will need to use the ecu to run the TVIS if its on the motor.

But since yours is ripped out then id say just go for it. So far as the little holes the butterfly shaft use to go thru doesnt leak into each others intake.

The TVIS is just a small pack of butterflies that stay partially closed or close to it in the lower rpm too increase air speed and torque. I doubt the ecu will deliver what the TVIS use too.

Im not sure what your last question is referring too.

All i can say regarding throttle body is make sure you punch all the holes in the gasket. If you plan to use the pcv then you must punch all holes. I say all holes as i don't know which one is for the pvc.

I ran an ADM AE82 Bigport with and with out TVIS on the stock ECU, and to tell you the truth I didn't even notice the difference with out it.
