Never heard of it before, but just cut the shaft. Everything beyond the teeth (or pin, can't remember which comes last) is just excess weight.
Ok, well I am getting towards the end of the motor I am building. (4AGTE)
But, just hit a snag.....
I have got up to the point of fitting up the CAS. I can't get the CAS fully in, because the end of the CAS shaft is hitting the ARP head stud, the ARP studs look like they sit higher than factory head bolts.
See pic:
Here you can see the gap size between the CAS and the head:
Is this a common problem?
Something not compatible?
I got a distributor too, and that fits fine because the shaft is not as long........
Any help appreciated.....
Thanks.

Take it off the shaft. I usually just grind it almost flush with the gear and then bevel it a bit with a file in-case you need to remove it to rebuild the CAS.

x11ty to all these solutions.
although i ran mine for a period (was unaware it was fouling) with no ill affect. but as andrew has said ive had my CAS shaft shaved and chamfered to suit.
I had the same problem with my distributor. Just hack sawed the end of the shaft off. 1000km's later and no problems.
This has happened to me a few times. Cut the end of the cas of and ground it down till it had clearence.
Cheers, thanks for the relpys guys. Sounds like an easy solution.....
