I've been hearing plenty of good things about kaaz centres from my uncle, apparently they can be set up pretty much as soft or hard as you like if a little on the pricier side.
car: 83 ae86
motor: red top bigport with cams
suspension: koni yellows all round and 4.5-6kg springs (i think)
use:daily/touge
driving style: mainly grip but starting to play around
currently have a standard t18 series one diff which i welded sway bar mounts back on to. i mainly just use my car as a daily driver but drive it spirited all the time, im well use to my open center and im wondering if you had to choose a nice lsd to suit the above driving which one would you go for?
im hesitant on going for a 2 way because my brother had a s14 series 2 with a 2 way that always clunked around at slow speeds and used to eat the shit out of his tyres. plus where i live the speeds are pretty high and roads are bumpy, combine that with rain and a lightweight 86 and i hope you've got mustache
i guess im looking for something that will let me hold a slide but wont throw me out on a corner in the wet too. maybe i should just grow a pair?
stock zenki lsd or a trd/cusco etc 2 way?

with either a kaaz or cusco will i still get the clunking/lock up turning at low speeds? surely a factory lsd would not do that right? whats the difference between factory and aftermarket?

I had a kaaz and currently have a cusco RS.
I'm tellin ya how it is but the it's not what people will tell you, in other words, you can get them to clunk pretty bad if you want it to.
So, the FC I had had a kaaz two-way in it. It clunked like hell, to the point where my dad straightened the car up in the middle of a round-about and ran it up the kerb. It was so bad his mechanical sympathy took over and just straightened the car up so it would stop doing it.
This one just clunked without really chirping/scuffing the terrible tires it had on it, I mean you could still feel it was there and was doing stuff, just not enough to bother you. Probably would have stopped clunking it if I changed the oil to proper LSD oil (no idea what was in there) and then added friction modifier if that didn't fix it.
The cusco I have in the corolla doesn't clunk. but the slightest amount of accel or decel and the rears starting scuffing/chirping to the point where it feels like a spool. If you can take a corner with the clutch in, it's perfectly quiet and behaved, wouldn't know it had such an aggressive LSD. I'm half sorta considering cracking the diff open and pulling out a plate/s from each side, it'd be a lot nicer and I don't think I'll lose much on lock-up.
Bear in mind that the diff is for an Altezza. It's meant to be much heavier and take bigger tires so what my car is doing is to be a little expected.
I have a KAAZ 2 way (in converted R31 rear end). Bought it brand new a year and a half ago, and it has clunked badly from day one. Doesn't have to be turning either. Slow speeds going straight it clunks too. Had the engineering joint who fitted it have a look and he said it was functioning as it should. And it does, just sounds terrible.....
It can be 'aggressive' if you want it to, or not if you dont.. Depends on driving skill... I think your initial question is focusing alot on the 'LSD', but when it comes down to it, driver skill is a much bigger factor..
Either KAAZ or Cusco are both good quality, but the Cusco ones are not as noisy by the sounds of it...![]()

I think trd 2ways are the quietest of the lot.. What about getting a 1.5way if your using it as a daily? You have to change your driving style with a daily with a 2way, can lock up on you pretty easily if you don't pay attention to what your doing..LSD is deffo a great upgrade though.. Standard LSD aren't to bad either, no noise and still able to lock up..
I'd go 2-way but have had a few at this stage. Also 4.77 is great with a 4age but can be annoying in a daily if highway driving alot
I think I have a trd 2 way in mine.. Yes its quiet
Clunks now and then but it's nothing irritating, I can't even remember when it clunks or doesn't..
Does not chirp like crazy in a parking lot or doing u turns, but locks up when needed to.. Does fine for grip driving too, no issues with it so far
dose
I have TRD 2 way. The key is to break it in like you would a motor with correct oil. The proceude is figure 8's and can't remember the rest.
I run Castrol SXFA the synthetic one, now come with the friction modifier already added.
It clunks when you load it around a sharp corner, otherwise it is very progressive in its engagement. Was awsome when it was my daily and really transformed the car.
On the track it is still great, no understeer and the right lock for getting the power down.
i hav a kazz 2way,with 4.77's,its a little noisey, locks up great, all up its great, why would noise bother you?what ever lsd you get ull adapt to how it drives without a problem just be careful in wet
